Graphic Design tips for Church Designers in 2025
As we step into 2025, church designers will be looking ahead to what the year brings. They will be looking to the church schedule and planning what events, promotion and social media design might look like.
You have a unique opportunity to enhance your visual communications, create designs that resonate deeply with your church family and local communities. To support you in this creative journey, I’ve compiled a selection of indispensable tools and tips to elevate your design projects in the coming year.
1. Canva
Canva is quickly becoming the most intuitive and user-friendly platform that enables church designers like you to craft stunning graphics. With a vast library of templates tailored for social media, flyers, and more, it’s an excellent starting point for any design project. One of the best features is the ability to share a file – this is a valuable tool for someone like me who works in collaboration with other church designers and teams. We can share ideas, update files and easily and quickly make edits. Notably, Canva offers its premium version free to registered nonprofits, making it an economical choice for churches.
2. Adobe Creative Cloud
For those seeking advanced design capabilities, Adobe Creative Cloud provides access to professional software like Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. These tools offer unparalleled flexibility and precision, allowing for the creation of bespoke designs that truly reflect your church’s identity. Adobe provides a nonprofit discount, so if your church is a registered charity, you may be able to apply.
3. Pexels and Unsplash
High-quality imagery can significantly enhance your designs. Pexels and Unsplash offer extensive collections of royalty-free photos that can be used to add visual appeal to your projects. These platforms are invaluable for sourcing images that align with your church’s message and aesthetic.
4. Font Squirrel
Typography plays a crucial role in design. Font Squirrel provides a vast selection of free, high-quality fonts that can help convey your message effectively. Choosing the right fonts can set the tone for your communications and ensure readability across various platforms. Choose wisely and don’t over do it – too many fonts can make or break a design. You can find out more tips about fonts here.
5. Coolors
A harmonious colour scheme is essential for cohesive design. Coolors is a user-friendly tool that allows you to generate and explore colour palettes, ensuring your designs are both visually appealing and aligned with your church’s branding.
